As Jersey U21s head away to Guernsey tomorrow for the U21 Muratti Dan Andrade caught up with midfielder and captain James Sunley.

Firstly, how keen are you and the whole squad to play in a Muratti again!
It’s great that it’s back on this year and we’re all really looking forward to it! We all learn a lot from competitive football and it’s always a great experience for everyone involved.
You’ve personally spent some time away from Jersey playing as well – tell us about where you’ve been and how’s it gone!
Being a student athlete at Hartpury has been great for my development as a player. Being crowned Premier South Champions this year was a great experience for myself, and I hope to replicate this success in the game on Saturday.

How good was it to hear that you’re going to captain the side on Saturday?
Being born in Jersey and progressing through the Jersey Football Association (JFA) system this has been a massive game that I’ve always wanted to be a part of. Having the captaincy is a privilege which I’ve experienced before, and I look forward to leading the boys out on the big day.
How’s training been with James Scott and co in charge?
The training and preparation work from the whole management staff has been timed perfectly, all the preparation is now done, we know what’s expected and all feel ready to go and showcase our ability. Having James Scott alongside us has also helped massively through his own experiences of captaining the senior men’s side and knows what is needed from a team to win a Muratti.

Is there added confidence seeing the U16 and U18 Muratti go Jerseys way?
Firstly, huge congratulations to the U16’s and U18’s, I think it shows there’s great ability throughout the age groups and an excellent footballing pathway here in Jersey. With us, confidence levels are high, and we look forward to hopefully following in their footsteps.
Finally, how confident are you that you and the boys can do the job on Saturday?
Extremely confident, I feel like this team is full of exceptional talent in all departments and we have individuals who can win you football matches. We know the task at hand and look forward to Saturday.
