Lee Meloy spoke with Dan ahead of this weeks ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Division 2 Qualifiers, being played at Grainville and FB Fields right here in Jersey.

How important is this week for the team?
It’s going to be a great experience for the squad who are just getting started on their ICC pathway journey.
How buzzing are you and the squad for the fact it is a home tournament?
We’re all excited to be playing a home tournament in front of a home crowd. Jersey really is proud of their islands teams and we just want to do them proud this week.
How important is that home crowd?
We’d love to see as many people there as possible. The girls relish the chance to show their skills and put in great performances for our supporters.
It is a young squad – how good an experience will this be?
They have had a small taste of ICC cricket but a pathway tournament with promotion on the line adds more context and focus. They will learn a huge amount from this week regardless of results.
How confident are you that they can qualify?
Very confident. I’ve seen the time and effort this squad have put into their preparation and I know they can gain promotion. It’s just about focusing on Italy first and taking each day as it comes.
